Palawan is recognized as one of the world’s 36 biodiversity hotspots. Its dazzling limestone cliffs and caves, crystal lagoons, rainforests, mangroves and coral reefs contain an abundance of exotic plant and animal species endemic to the island.

Palawan is also home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River and Tubbataha Reef.
